Women, Science & Space in Xàtiva | Creative English Learning for Kids

🚀✨ Our little astronauts are learning English through creativity, play, and imagination at DarKha Academy! This week we explored space vocabulary while building rockets and practicing complete sentences in English. 🌍🪐💫 Learning becomes magical when children can create, speak, and discover together. 💙

At DarKha Academy, May is going to be full of discovery, creativity, culture, and imagination! This month our younger learners will explore the exciting world of Women, Science & Space through hands-on activities, games, music, crafts, cooking, and lots of English speaking practice. 👩‍🚀🔬🌮🎨

We believe children learn best when they are actively involved, having fun, moving, creating, and connecting language to real life. Throughout the month, students will continue building confidence using complete sentences in English while recycling familiar vocabulary, songs, and routines. 🎶🧠

🚀 Week 1: Space Vocabulary & Our Connection to Earth

This week we blast off into space! 🌙✨

Students will learn and practice exciting space vocabulary such as:

planet

star

moon

rocket

astronaut

Earth

But we won’t stop there! We’ll connect space studies to our previous Earth topics, including:

🌱 plants

🐻 animals

♻️ recycling and caring for our planet

Through games, manipulatives, drawing activities, worksheets, and speaking practice, children will strengthen their vocabulary while learning to answer in complete sentences like:

🗣️ “The Earth has animals and plants.”

🗣️ “The astronaut is in the rocket.”

We’ll also continue singing familiar songs and revisiting previous vocabulary to reinforce language naturally and joyfully. 🎵💫

🚀 Week 2: Build & Launch Rockets!

This week our students become little engineers and astronauts! 👩‍🚀✨

Children will design and create their own rockets while practicing action verbs and sequencing language in English:

We’ll focus on using process language such as:

Students will practice speaking while describing their rockets and explaining the building process.

🌮 Week 3: Cooking Class – Mexican Tortillas

One of our favourite weeks! 😋🇲🇽

This month’s cooking activity introduces children to Mexican culture while practicing English through hands-on learning.

Students will learn cooking verbs and imperatives such as:

They’ll also work on sequencing language while preparing delicious tortillas together.

To finish the month, students will create their own colourful solar systems! ☀️🪐✨

Through arts and crafts, children will review and reinforce all the space vocabulary learned throughout the month while expressing their creativity in English.
