What is the DarKha Bilingual Book Club?
Our monthly Book Club brings together language learners and book lovers to read, listen and discuss stories in both English and Spanish.
This month we'll explore The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros, reading selected short stories aloud in both languages. Together we'll practise pronunciation, expand our vocabulary, discuss cultural themes and enjoy meaningful conversations inspired by the book.
No pressure, no homework—just an enjoyable evening of learning together.

What is the DarKha Bilingual Book Club?
The DarKha Bilingual Book Club is a monthly community event where participants practise English and Spanish by reading literature together. Through shared reading, discussion and cultural exchange, language learning becomes enjoyable, meaningful and social.
Why read books in two languages?
Reading the same stories in English and Spanish helps learners improve vocabulary, pronunciation, listening comprehension and confidence. Comparing both languages also deepens cultural understanding and encourages natural conversation.
What will we read this month?
This month we'll explore selected stories from The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros. Participants will take turns reading aloud in English and Spanish, discussing vocabulary, themes and the cultural perspectives found throughout the stories.
Who can join the Book Club?
